Common questions and answers
How long will the job take?
There are no two jobs the same and it will depend entirely on what you have done as to how long the job takes. We’ve had customers say before that “I have a friend who had a new kitchen/bathroom fitted and only took*****” what is there are different ways of carrying out the installations, the quick way and the good way.
You are most likely spending a considerable saving on your new kitchen/bathroom/heating installation, whatever it is that you are having done. You deserve to have it done correctly! At JV Trade Services, we aim to complete our installations when we said we would, however, it’s not a precise science and often things materialise that you could not reasonably have predicted. We work with you to overcome these issues but won’t rush at the expense of quality. Quite frankly, we would rather walk away from a job than start it on an unrealistic time schedule! Beware the builder that says “I can” all the time!!
What do I need to do to get ready for you to start work in my house?
We would ask that you fully empty all of your existing cupboards and remove for safe keeping any items within the working area that are at all fragile and which could get broken. It is quite likely of course that you will be having a new refrigerator and freezer fitted weather integrated or free standing. We would ask that, if at all possible, you could relocate these existing appliances to another room for the duration of the installation.
Will all the rubbish be taken away?
JV Trade Services do not hold a ‘waste carriers license’ which is a legal requirement for any trades person carrying waste in their vehicle. We organise either a skip to be on site by a reputable skip company or use a smaller waste removal company for the smaller jobs who do hold all the correct licenses. The waste industry has changed considerably in recent history and due to this new legislation there really is no way around needing to use the correct people. Along with the trades person it is also the householders responsibility to ensure that their waste is disposed of correctly and you can be prosecuted if waste from your property ends up being fly tipped!
Will there be much mess while the work is going on?
If you are having a kitchen or a bathroom ripped out and new installed then this will necessarily create quite a lot of dust. Although we will strive to keep this to a minimum it is inevitable that dust will travel and settle in areas that are away from the immediate working area. If you wish we can arrange for a cleaning company to come in afterwards and carry out what’s called a builders clean where they will go though the house and carry a general dust and vacuum clean. You will be asked if would like this to be arranged at survey
